Alix is a PhD student at UC Berkeley's Energy + Resources Group (ERG). Along with the Climate Futures Lab, she belongs to the Critical Ruralities Lab, the Disabled Ecologies Lab, and the Racial and Anticolonial Ecologies Lab. Her work centers in feminist political ecology, critical climate adaptation studies, decoloniality, disaster studies, embodied geographies, and Indigenous epistemologies. Her research is grounded in participatory methodologies and collaborative knowledge production. She teaches courses in Native American Studies, Agroecology, and Gender and the Environment. She is also an award-winning documentary filmmaker, cinematographer (Helen and the Bear; Farmer/Veteran) and audio producer.

 

Blair has a Masters in Environmental Management from the Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke University, a certificate in Ecological Horticulture from the Center for Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems (CASFS) at UC Santa Cruz, and a BA from Brown University. Once she was a yoga teacher, a dolphin trainer, and a carpenter’s apprentice. She is currently the caretaker of four apple trees, three lemon trees, a small space of soil in a city, two young human beings, an elderly cat, and numerous house spiders.
