Nat is a second-year MS student in the Energy and Resources Group (ERG) dedicated to fostering reciprocal and sustainable relationships between humans and their environments in the face of uncertain climate futures. Drawing from the fields of political ecology, environmental history, and ethnography, his research seeks to identify the barriers to and opportunities for interdisciplinary adaptation strategies within complex socio-ecological systems. His current work focuses on how different actors in the hydrosocial cycle perceive climate threats and conceive of necessary adaptation in Cuenca, Ecuador. He hopes to contribute to just and durable solutions in a world facing the challenges of intensifying climate extremes and widening inequality. 

 

Nat holds a BA in Environmental History and Pre-Medical Studies from Amherst College. Prior to ERG, Nat worked in an epidemiology lab at the NIH and spent three years as a research associate at a Washington, D.C.-based policy think tank.
